Amar’e Stoudemire has reportedly picked up a new hobby. According to Page Six, while speaking on the panel for Surface magazine’s Design Dialogues this week, Stoudemire shared that he is working towards becoming a “legit and serious [art] collector.”

The NBA player explained that his growing interest in art is actually for his kids, so that they can look back at the works when they get older. The Miami Heat forward is already working with a team to help him determine what pieces he should add to his collection.

“I have a pretty strong advisory group that I chat with on a normal basis just to be fully equipped and knowledgeable on the market,” he said. “Emerging artists are risky, so you want to make sure that you’re surrounded by good people who know the most about art and who will lead you in the right direction.”
