Although his mind will soon be on free agency when he hits the open market on July 1, Dallas Mavericks big man Amar’e Stoudemire spent some time away from the court while refreshing his broadcasting skills this offseason.

Attending the National Basketball Players Association’s “Sportscaster U” program from June 5-8, Stoudemire began to prep for his post-playing career in broadcasting.

When the six-time All-Star finally does hang up his sneakers, he hopes to be among the over 70 percent of past participants in the program’s eight-year existence to eventually launch a broadcasting career after their NBA playing days are over.
