The Miami HEAT announced today that they have signed center/forward Amar’e Stoudemire.
“We are very fortunate that a proven All-Star like Amar’e has chosen the Miami Heat,” said HEAT President Pat Riley. “He is going to bring gravitas, leadership and a hardworking mentality to our team as we look to win another Championship in Miami.”
Stoudemire, a six-time NBA All-Star and five time All-NBA selection, has averaged 19.8 points, 8.1 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.28 blocks and 32.1 minutes in 794 NBA games (660 starts) while shooting 53.6 percent from the field and 76.1 percent from the foul line in a distinguished 13-year career. He split last season between the New York Knicks and the Dallas Mavericks appearing in 59 games (15 starts) and averaged 11.5 points, 5.6 rebounds and 21.1 minutes while shooting 55.7 percent from the field and 72.0 percent from the foul line.
