The six-time All-Star forward, Amar’e Stoudemire, signed and was expected to be on a flight to Oklahoma City with his new teammates. The Mavericks return from the All-Star break at the Thunder on Thursday night.

“To play alongside Dirk Nowitzki, Tyson Chandler and other great players, I think it’s a tremendous opportunity for me to compete for a championship,” said Stoudemire.

Chandler and Stoudemire spent three seasons together in New York. Chandler signed with the Knicks as a free agent after helping lead Dallas to the franchise’s only championship in 2011. The 7-foot-1 Chandler came back to the Mavericks in an offseason trade.

Stoudemire has career averages of 20 points and 8.2 rebounds. He averaged 12 points and 24 minutes for the Knicks this season.
