Scoring 14 points off the bench on 5 of 8 from the field and pulling down three rebounds in just over 11 minutes of work, Stoudemire bolstered the Mavericks’ second unit during a 92-81 win at home over Charlotte. And while he continues to become more comfortable in the Mavs’ system following his mid-season addition, Stoudemire envisions his role expanding going forward in order to help his new team make a playoff push to close the regular season.

“I was anxious,” Stoudemire admitted after his first game action with the Mavs. “I was ready to get going and set the tone from the start. … I think when you’re playing with good basketball players the game becomes easy. It’s a matter of finding the right spots on the court to get open and taking advantage of the opportunity and going for it.”

He added: “There’s a lot of room to grow. There’s so many offensive plays that I have to still study night in and night out to figure it out, and defensively there’s a few strategies that I have to figure out as well. So, it will take time, but I think this is a great starting point.”
