12-12-12 is a date that won’t happen again for another 100 years.
On Wednesday, Amar’e Stoudemire and longtime partner Alexis Welch took advantage by tying the knot in an ultra-private ceremony on his rooftop with you guessed it: 12 guests in attendance.
“They decided to do this because of the date,” writes New York Daily News. “They wanted to do something spiritual and private for themselves.”
Amar’e and Alexis plan on throwing a bigger party this summer which Stoudemire’s teammates, who were not aware he was getting married, will be invited to. The guest list for the wedding was composed of mostly family with their three children participating in the ceremony. The service also included a Jewish chupah as Stoudemire has expressed his interest in the Jewish faith.in Paris.
Stoudemire wore a Calvin Klein tux for the ceremony and Welch wore a custom-made dress. The two were engaged in Paris this past June.
“I am so honored to be marrying my best friend,’’ Stoudemire told the New York Post. “I am so happy she said yes, and now we can continue to build our life together as husband and wife.”
